New Missionaries Arrive! (Feb 2018)

It's an unusually beautiful in Milan
for February.
The sun is shining, the weather mildly cool
and our new missionaries are arriving.
We first receive two from the MTC in Spain
and then the next day all go to welcome "home"
the seven coming from the Provo MTC.
Even after the long journey they are smiling
and anxious to do what they came to do...
"Preach repentance and baptize converts".

Now - some excerpts from the moment they arrive.
Our Spain MTC missionaries

The next day we return to receive our Provo MTC group.

Another group has arrived safe and sound.
They came to be missionaries.
they were given great trainers to help them
do their best.
We are looking forward to serving with your
sons and daughters in the Lord's beautiful Italian vineyard.
Thank you for your continues love, prayers and support.
We have a family saying that comes from Shakespeare....
  ~~
"It's work, but it's good work"
(and then we add)
"because it's the Lord's work"

New Missionary Training - Feb 2018

The difference five weeks makes...

Still tired - but not sleep deprived
Smiling - but for more reasons
Questions - that are based on needs
New Companion - is now a new friend
All about me - now all about "the work"

Suitcases are unpacked and they officially live
in questa bella Italia.

We gathered them in and they were so very
delighted to see each other.
This is a close group.

We feel like they have been part of our mission family
for much longer.

Happy Valentines Day!

We had a wonderful day
but now it's back to doing what we came to do -
"Preach repentance and baptize converts"

Ci vediamo!

Zone Conferences - February 2018

It has been a wonderful two weeks of Zone Conferences
with our missionaries.
They are dedicated and hard working
and family members can be proud of what they are accomplishing.
I will also give you a synopsis of
what was presented in the conferences.
We are gearing up to accomplish
Milano321.
It will be hard
but
we can do hard things.
~~
We are a mission of faith a mission of miracles
because
We are a mission of obedience and hard work.

ZC Agenda with Notes:

 President Allen
I ask you to lift your personal level of performance.
No playing cards in the church.
Be attentive to the White Handbook guidelines on music,
proper missionary titles, language and
comportment with fellow missionaries.
Check companions technical devices weekly.
Keep cell phones in our pockets/purses during meetings.

Zone Leaders
Finding.
We must diligently and joyfully find.
Use Milano321 to help missionaries and members set goals.
We must assume 100% responsibility in finding.
Goal - one new investigator per week.

Sister Trainer Leaders
The importance of companionship study.
Companions who study together each day are more unified and prepared
to be tools in the Lord's hands
and enjoy the blessing of the presence of the Holy Ghost.

Assistants
Safety and Preparedness
Be ready with emergency funds, food and prudent behavior
in the event of a natural or man made disaster.

Sorella Allen
Opposition.
"There must needs be opposition in ALL things"
We must prepare to be opposed in our work
and meet the challenge like the heroes we are.
Have the courage to meet opposition wherever it comes from.
(and not BE the opposition.)
Repent and - like Enos - be forgiven
of our sins.

President Allen
Statistics of how our mission compares with the Europe Area average.
We are very low in finding, high in other areas.
Our push/commission is to find.
To the older missionaries:
please work hard to the end.  Leave a culture of obedience and hard work.
To the younger missionaries:
Look to the older missionaries. Follow their example.
Be Christ centered and focus driven.
Be "red sword" and "red balloon" missionaries.
(Focus - work hard - stretch)

Now -
Let's go and be amazing!

Comings and Goings

We welcome a new senior couple
Anziano and Soella Nelson
from Utah.

They are serving in Bergamo
and are specifically working with
the young single adults.

Welcome!
We are grateful to have you here.

We send home
Sorella Richards
who has suffered with a swollen knee
for many months now.
Church Medical felt it was prudent
to bring her home for treatment.

We also recognize
Anziano Farr
who had medical needs that needed attention as well.

I do not have a picture of him because of
unplanned travel issues
but we were grateful to serve with both of these missionaries
and are very sorry to send them home
before their previously scheduled time.

Take care.  Get well.  You are missed.

25 January, 2018

Some of you may have heard that there was a train accident today outside of Milan.  Fortunately, none of our missionaries were on the train and they are all safe.  Thank you for all your prayers!

New District Leaders

We welcome three new District Leaders.
This is an assignment - like all we do in the
Church of Jesus Christ -
that gives us opportunity to serve others.
The service a missionary gives to a fellow missionary
is to be their best.
A District Leader learns to know his district well
and creates a weekly meeting that will
inspire and encourage each individual.
They also have the responsibility to interview
baptism candidates.

Anziani Melchin, Goold, and Calton

They will fill their responsibilities well.

Mission Leadership Council - Consiglio - January '18

The Milano Missione is so very blessed with great missionaries.
When called to serve in a leadership position on a mission
one need not be set apart -
the setting apart to be a missionary for
the Lord Jesus Christ
is enough.
We rely on this leadership to
keep this mission forward moving and vital.
Every person is needed and expected to pull their load
as best they can.... and they do.
It is a mission miracle.

The shoes on the floor in front of us
are worn out with holes completely through the heels
and jumbo stitches on the toes.
They were worn by a dedicated missionary.
We have come here to wear out OUR souls
in service to our Lord.
May we merit the blessings
of Him who sent us.

MILANO321!
