Solo Arrival. Visa Wait is Over.

The challenges of extended stay in a foreign country
occasionally causes our missionaries
to endure a visa-wait situation.
When the clearance is given mid-transfer
we have them sent as soon as possible.
This is where they belong.
This is where we need them.

Welcome Anziano Favro!
Companion - Anziano Gillett
Serving in Cimiano Milano

New Missionary Training Oct 2017

Every six weeks we bring the new missionaries
back in to retrain.
We share what we feel is important about
the culture of our mission,
make certain they understand guidelines
and ask them if they have questions.
We also share a very touching video presentation
on the Atonement of Jesus Christ
that has been set to the words of
Henry B. Eyring and Jeffrey R. Holland.

We are reminded of
WHY
we each chose to serve missions.

We have courage, love, obedience, smiles and
testimonies of Jesus Christ as our Savior.
We have each been called to serve.
We are ready.

We are taking this picture from a different angle
to accommodate train schedules.
Wonderful missionaries who are adjusting to missionary life
and doing remarkably well with the language.
We are grateful to have them.

A couple of candid moments...

October Zone Conferences 2017

Exciting times!!

We are now an online proselyting mission!
Each companionship has now received a "smart phone"
with the option to own it personally.
Our church leadership, mission president,
and God
believe they are up to this task.

It will diligence in using the four safeguards:
1- Be in Tune with Spiritual Promptings
2- Be Focused on Your Missionary Purpose
3-Be Disciplined
4- Be one

These safeguards were compared to a
1- Corral, 2- Saddle, 3- Bridle, 4- Training
they will need to competently ride the rearing horse named "Internet".

"Remember, the Lord has confidence in you and in each missionary He has called."
~Safeguards for Using Technology~

 President asked them to
Open their mouths!
To preach "by the wayside"
Satan tried to "bind the tongue" of Joseph Smith as he prayed in the Sacred Grove.
We must not allow him to do the same to us.
Fear not!

Visa Waiter Arrives!

Anziano Favro
who has been serving well in Minnesota
while awaiting his visa.
He was able to come to the
 Italy Milan Mission
mid-transfer and we are very grateful to have him.

Welcome!

Our missionary has arrived a weary traveler,
but the smile on his face tells us
he is excited to be here!
We're so very happy to have you Anziano!

Christmas Package Directions

Christmas is coming!
This is a wonderful and sentimental time of year.
We know you are anxious to let your missionary know
how much you love them.

You might appreciate some specific information:

First - ship mail or packages only to the mission office

(Missionary's name)
Via Antonio Gramsci, 13
20090 Opera (MI)
Italy

All mail and packages will be shuttled to your missionary
during our regular rotations of interviews or zone conferences
via the mission president's sleigh.
This means it is important for you to plan your gifts to arrive
in NOVEMBER,
which gives us a couple rounds in December to assure
your missionary will receive what you send.

Second - consider using
Amazon.it or Amazon.co.UK
for mailing packages.
The advantage with this is cost to your missionary.
When you mail a package from the U.S. there is a fee charged
to the person receiving it.
If you choose to mail something from home declare a
"modest" estimation of it's value.  If you make something special,
declare the value of the materials, not the value of the finished item.
Missionaries have been charged upwards to 100 Euros,
depending on listed values.

Sometimes parents will send packages with pictures of Jesus
on the outside.  The idea is that it will prevent someone from
looking through the contents.  There is nothing that
indicates this is effective or needful.  Up to you.

Mark the contents inside with
"Do not open until Christmas"
to ensure your missionary will save it for the "big day".

Third - What to send....
They like candy.  We have lots here but perhaps there is something
particular that isn't available in Italy.
Jerky is popular,
also peanut butter and Cliff Bars.
Stick deodorant isn't common here so that is good if needed.
The Sorelle might also like fleece tights.  It gets very chilly here.
They all like to shop so money on their personal card is
always appreciated.
Your missionary might want to buy something particular
so a boost to the card is helpful.
One thing you do not need to send is ties and scarves.
They seem to have access to plenty at great prices.

Additionally,
it is always nice if you send something that can be
shared with the companion.
We are planning on a gift for each missionary to ensure all will have
a lovely Christmas.

Finally,
We hope our missionaries will be able to focus
on the true meaning of the holiday
and make it a "holy" day.
Jesus Christ was born in a simple stable with a manger of straw for his bed.
Serving the people in Italy as a missionary
is what He would have them do,
and they are doing it very well.
Thank you for the love and encouragement you give to them.

Thirteen Great Missionaries Go Home

There is a time and a season for everything.
Their "season of service" has ended here in Italy,
but hopefully will continue in some other place
with purpose and energy
as they continue to honor baptism and temple covenants;
continue to take His name upon them and
to remember, remember, remember...

We know your faces, your voices, your hearts,
and especially...
your testimonies.

Better yet ... the Lord knows.

Anziani Dohms, Rizzo, Carnahan
Sorelle McCormick, Fife
(President and Sorella Allen)
Smedley, Perkins, Anderson,
Anziani Freckleton, Allred, Young, Brooks, and Juhasz.

"Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience,
brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.

Ask, and ye shall receive, knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Amen."
D&C 4:6-7

Ci vediamo!

It is interesting to be present for the match process.
There is an undercurrent of excitement and anxiousness that cannot be denied.
This is where and when the embarkation of their mission service begins.
This process of choosing trainers is the first priority as
transfers begins because they are important in maintaining a positive
mission culture as they influence our new missionaries.
They are wonderful missionaries!

"Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him
with all your heart, might, mind and strength,
that ye may stand blameless before God in the last day."
D&C 4:2
